Kelmscott Press ephemera collection, 1892-1896.

Compiled by J.K. Power circa 1958[?], the collection includes gatherings of proofs and/or canceled sheets and blue paper cover samples from a number of Kelmscott Press publications. Gatherings include: The love-lyrics & songs of Proteus by Wilfrid Scawen Blunt (1892); A dream of John Ball by William Morris (1892); Biblia innocentium by J.W. Mackail (1892); News from nowhere, or, An epoch of rest by William Morris (1892); Gothic architecture : a lecture for the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society by William Morris (1893); Sonnets and lyrical poems by Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1894); and two different states of Child Christopher and Goldilind the Fair by William Morris (1895). Blue paper cover samples include: The floure and the leafe (1896); and a "specimen page of a projected edition of Caxton's Vitas Patrum, Kelmscott, 1894."

The Kelmscott Press, founded by William Morris and Emery Walker, published 53 books in 66 volumes between 1891 and 1898. Each book was designed and ornamented by Morris and printed by hand in limited editions of around 300. Many books were illustrated by Edward Burne-Jones. Kelmscott Press books sought to replicate the style of 15th-century printing and were part of the Gothic revival movement.
